Wedding Flowers
- A Brilliant Arrangement of Purple!
Wedding
flowers denote the theme of any wedding. The colors of the flowers
often
symbolize the favorite colors of the bride and groom. One popular
color in the last few years has been purple. Often purple has been
paired with white or silver. Purple flowers can come in many varieties
such as wildflowers, grafted flowers, or the more formal flowers.
Wildflowers
consist of the Purple Aster, Daisy, Pansy, and Violets. The Purple
aster is similar to a daisy with the thin spike like petals radiating from
a yellow center. The pansy, and violet have a more pronounce petal
usually only five petals to one flower. This flower is less round
than the others. The wildflowers give an informal look to any bouquet
or flower arrangement and are great for the outdoor nature wedding.
The violet has two kinds the purple violet and the Moms’ violets.
For a
more formal look you have the Forget Me Knots, Dark Purple Rose, Phlox,
Lavender, Violas, Lilacs, and Iris. Combining any of these flowers
together will add to the bridal bouquet. Carnations are another flower
often used in bouquets. The formal look is attained by the arrangement,
if the flowers are loosely arranged with no form it is more informal where
as the tight pattern of a bouquet will lend to the formal look of the flowers
you choose.
Once
you have picked the purple flowers that fit your weddings theme and your
own personal taste you will want to pick the style of arrangement there
are several bouquet styles from baskets for the bridesmaids to the old
fashioned bouquets of brides long ago. The wedding bouquet can be
a simple gathering of flowers tied together with a ribbon or a more elaborate
affair with wire holding the stems together and ribbon trailing from intricate
designed knots.
The baskets
are a great way to use informal bouquets for the bridesmaids with the wildflowers.
It gives a country look to a wedding barn theme. Barns are
becoming popular wedding places, not the rundown full of animals barns
we think of, but old fashioned remodeled barns with high rafters and wood
floors for a country wedding or a fall wedding.
If you
have a more formal venue in mind such as a church you probably want a more
formal bouquet with the ribbon designs in the bouquet. The ribbons
may look like flowers as well as having real flowers. A nice bouquet
has a design in itself, like a symmetrical pattern or groupings of the
same flowers held together with one ribbon. The ribbon is as important
as the flowers in these bouquets.
Choosing
the color of ribbon is important. With an abundance of purple flowers
in the bouquet or all purple flowers you may choose a silver or white ribbon
to hold the arrangement together. Having multi colored ribbons for
each different color purple might lend to a unique arrangement.
The purple
you want as your flower is just as important as the simple word.
Purple can be dark, medium, pastel or light. The degree of purple
is as important as the color itself. Lilacs and Iris are a light
flower arrangement while the dark purple rose or pansy is a darker color.
The time of year may decide the degree of color you use. There are
summer, fall, winter, and spring colors. Typically the winter colors
are a bit darker than spring. You might decide a lighter flower and
a darker bridesmaid dress gives a distinct contrast to your arrangements.
One flower
yet to be mentioned is the popular posies. The posies were the symbolic
flower of the early wedding and most of our bouquet arrangements began
using the posies. While these flowers are not in use as much today
as before they are still seen in many weddings. The posy has away
of being informal or formal depending on the bouquet arrangement you chose.
Adding a little ribbon to any bouquet adds to the formal arrangement.
Lastly
moving from the bridal party to the groom and his men you will want complimenting
flowers. These flowers may be purple to your bouquet or the silver
or white of your second wedding color. These flowers are generally
simple with one single stem or a smaller flower of five stems rolled together.
Often a groom has a carnation or rose in his lapel. This might determine
your choice in flowers.
Purple
is a favorable color for any wedding. Choosing the degree of purple,
the type of flowers, and the bouquet is important for completing the perfect
wedding. The color purple may be the bride’s favorite color complimenting
the bridesmaids dresses with the perfect flowers. The flowers will
lend to the ambiance of your wedding, creating the formal or informal look
you have chosen. Knowing the correct flowers of your wedding will
help make the day perfect. |
