Blossom
of Spring Wedding
Spring
is a lovely time of year to get married the birth of the new season
bringing flowers and rebirth all around us from the crocus, to the baby
lambs hopping round fresh green fields. The trees with their blossom, the
birds building nests it is a time when we feel it is great to be alive
and summer is in our thoughts filled with lazy days and distant holidays.
Although spring is a really
lovely time it is not the first or second favourite for brides this means
that for the spring wedding you have a lot more chance of getting not only
the day you want but also the venue that may have been denied you later
in the busier part of the year. And of course costs will be lower than
in the following seasons.
For the ceremony do you have
a traditional church spring wedding or perhaps a nice smart venue now that
you can get married in a variety of venues the world is your oyster. Lets
say you pick a nice venue in a stately home, you are going to have the
ceremony in the private chapel so you keep it simple, small hand tied bunches
of multi coloured spring flowers at the end of the pews, rose petals sprinkled
up the aisle, and a beautiful large bouquet of flowers adorning the alter
simple order of service cards with maybe a dried flower attached as a keepsake.
A little touch that will show how much care you have taken in your preparations.
This wedding offers an abundance
of ideas, indoor and out remember though that spring can be a contrary
month bright sunshine one moment and the heavens opening the next so keep
that in mind when deciding on your spring wedding theme. Go for nice pastel
shades like lilac, pink, baby blue pastel greens and so on.
So, for the bridesmaids remember
they may need sleeves or at the very least a wrap to keep them warm if
it gets a little chilly on the day, the dresses can be in a variety of
colours and if you are torn between a couple of colours why not go for
a rainbow wedding theme. Which will in fact accentuate the spring that
is just beginning to bloom. Lemon and pink, purple and green are amazing
contrasting colours so have each bridesmaid in a different but contrasting
colour.
They could carry baskets of
spring flowers with contrasting ribbons. Dainty flowered headbands
would also look great for spring weddings. You want to promote a fresh
spring look. So keep it simple and yet colourful. As the bride you could
wear long sleeves to ward of sudden chills or perhaps even a wrap that
could drape elegantly over your shoulders, a beautiful teardrop bouquet
trailing in front of you with all the colours of spring would look simply
stunning.
Flowers in your hair would give
a spring feel to you and accentuate your theme. The Groom could wear a
different colour shirt from his best man and you could even ask your guests
to keep your wedding theme going. Buttonholes could be multi coloured roses,
or maybe calla lilies which are always attractive.
For your wedding favours how
about small pottery vases filled with china flowers, or single stem silk
flowers in every imaginable colour. Little spring flowers tied into little
posies look great and will even go on to brighten your guests’ homes and
last for years a continuing memento of your special day. Or as something
different you could give your guest a packet of seeds that will bloom later
in the year and will give pleasure for a great many years to come. You
could even give multi coloured candles with a small posy of silk flowers
tied with contrasting ribbons and perfumed as well would make them bring
spring alive at home.
As for your special meal, first
you need to decide if you are having a sit down meal or a buffet, but in
deciding your preferred menu keep in mind it is a spring wedding theme
and you have chosen a rainbow theme so your food can be as colourful and
tasty as you want. Try to incorporate the spring theme lots of green salads,
Asparagus, new potatoes, sugar snap peas, and haricots verts. Fresh fruit.
A chocolate cake with coconut icing. You could also opt for carrot cake
with a cream cheese icing. Strawberries, rhubarb, and apricots are delicious
at this time of year, and mangos and pomegranates may work as well. Try
phyllo dough cups with mousse or custard topped with strawberries. Multi
coloured gateaux, and cakes.
So the arrangements are made,
and now all you have to do is have the best day of your life a spring wedding
that will keep you smiling for many years ahead.
