For
a fishing wedding theme there are a number of funny ideas you could use,
one idea is to
hold your wedding on a beach pier. You can have the bride in a nice PVC
dress with the groom in his best fishing gear. Instead of the bride arriving
at the ceremony in a car, she could arrive on a fishing boat and have a
row boat to get her to the shore. With regards to the bouquet, the bride
could use a fishing pole with a garland of flowers wrapped around it.
To add a little extra touch
to the theme, as the bride and groom leave they could have a group of friends
to act as a guard of honour and raise their rods in to an arch for the
happy couple to walk under. The wedding favours could be things like fishing
key ring, and lucky charms, seashells, oyster shells with chocolates inside.
For those close to you, why not get a fly hook engraved with your wedding
dates or the person’s name.
The reception can be held on
the beach as this would fit in nicely. The wedding cake could be in the
shape of a traditional looking wedding cake with the top tear designed
as a compass, around the edges you could have various sorts of seashells
just to finish it off. The buffet could be a selection of seafood with
an open fire to cook a number of items. As for the music, it is always
nice to get a band that has an accordion in it accompanied by a harmonica,
as this is what long haul fishing boats used to have for their entertainment.
If that does not interest you,
why not have a boat cruise to hold your ceremony. You could have a romantic
cruise ship decorated with a fishing style feel. You could ask them to
hang some life saving rings up as well as other fishing items. You get
the ships captain to conduct the ceremony with a grace of elegance. Every
fisherman’s dream is to sale the seven seas at some point. Every detail
will be taken care off at your request with the ships dedicated wedding
services.
Another fishing wedding theme
is to have a normal church wedding ceremony but make the reception your
wedding theme. You could hang fishing nets up on the walls, over the doorways
and on the ceiling. Next you should get some balloons and tie them in to
flying fish. Think about having an ice sculpture that looks like a fish.
The tables should have the feel
of the deep blue sea, with some pebbles and seaweed. The main table should
look like the ocean floor and have seashells with fish confetti scattered
all over them. Get all the guests to use fishing tackle boxes as the seats
and make them use old tin cutlery like you would get on a fishing boat.
You can play games like shuffleboard as an added extra bit of fun.
What else could you ask for?
The traditional feel is not always the best thing to have for every one
but a themed one can give you the idea you desire for your wedding day.
If you wanted an unusual theme you could all dress up the men could wear
old sailor costumes, and the women could have skirts and shawls. Just for
something that bit different.
Your wedding invitations could
be shaped like a fish with a tie through the mouth, or you could have your
invitations in the shape off an oyster shell. This would give a very nice
look. A different look would be to make your own invitations with two fishermen
by the side of the words casting there lines and hooking your guests names.
The ultimate fishing wedding
theme would have to be having the ceremony in an underground aquarium,
as this would give you the feel of being in the underwater paradise of
the sea. While you are saying your vows you will be able to look at the
stunning underwater land and for your honeymoon you could go on a fishing
holiday that is suitable for the bride as well as the groom. What more
could a fishing lover ask for.
So the scene is set, you have
cast your nets and have hooked your groom. Now you want the honeymoon of
a lifetime. Whether you go to the salt waters in America or to the sandy
beaches of the Caribbean, you will end up with memories that will last
forever.
For an unusual wedding, a fishing
wedding theme would be up there near the top of the list and it would be
a lot of fun to plan and set up. |
