Outdoor wedding
themes
So you
know you are getting married and you are trying to think of a theme.
You and your groom both love outdoor activities, so your first choice is
an outdoor wedding. This can be done in many ways and in various places
too. If you get married on a lake, your boat is brightly decorated with
flowers and ribbons and the minister stands on a bridge looking down at
you.
Themed weddings are really only
limited these days by your own imagination. Imagine having your wedding
photo taken on the big wheel or some crazy ride. Just think of the memories
that this will evoke in the years ahead.
Your
groom could be your knight
in shining armour and arrive at the venue on a white charger, whilst you
wait patiently dressed as lady Guinevere at the side of the lake. Follow
the ceremony with a traditional medieval feast set in the grounds of an
old romantic castle or stately home. You could provide jousting as entertainment,
archery, quoits, etc.
If you are a water lover, have
you ever thought of getting married underwater? After your wedding you
can celebrate your reception on a tropical beach with the sun drying you
off and the gentle breeze in your hair. The sand warm beneath your feet
and you drink your toast out of coconut shells, whilst the sea laps gently
at your feet.
You could have a Disney wedding
theme where you all dress as Disney characters. You could be Cinderella,
and your groom prince charming. All the guests could follow the theme,
and you could then have a big winnie the pooh picnic with lots of fun and
food. The kids will love this theme too; you could even give a small prize
for the best-dressed guest.
Or if you love animals, you
could think about a milkmaid and shepherd wedding theme, followed by your
reception in the cowshed (cleaned and decorated of course). With the animals
looking over from their paddocks. And your guests dressed as milkmaids
and shepherds.
You can go cruising down the
river on your own river cruise and the reception is held on board, the
boat is decorated with flowers and lights and you start married life with
a moonlit romantic cruise, and buffet served on board, while you all dance
the night away.
If you are a thrill seeker you
go bungee jumping out of a hot air balloon to celebrate your wedding, with
champagne thrown in for the ride of your life.
If you fancy a fun outdoor wedding
theme, then why not hire a big top and have a circus themed wedding. The
bride and groom dress as circus acts and get married on the trapeze or
high wire. Or you could be the clown chasing after an invisible friend.
Everyone loves the circus and this will provide a great deal of fun as
well as a day to remember for everyone for a long time to come. Followed
by a circus feast fit for the top act of any circus.
Of course if you can get a minister
or registrar to agree you could always marry at home in the garden under
a flower decked archway, with your guest sitting in the sunshine, the birds
flying overhead, a buffet under a canopy and dancing in the moonlight till
the wee small hours. With your guests catered for, you can enjoy the best
day of your life in your home surroundings.
Then you have country and western
weddings where you have a traditional cowboy day. You arrive in a ribbon
decked horse and trap, and your groom arrives on horseback, followed by
line dancing in the barn and everyone on root beer or soda.
How about a through the ages
outdoor wedding theme where everyone dresses as a figure from history
be it past or present, you could be Cleopatra or Marie Antoinette, or even
Elizabeth the 1st. Your groom could be the dauphin of France, or an emperor,
a gladiator, or the red baron. Whatever you want you can be and the day
will be filled with wonder and joy and memories will be vivid for the rest
of your life.
Another nice theme would be
getting married at the top of a cliff with the sea lapping the shore below
you, the wind in your hair. This would be a really romantic setting. You
could be Scarlet O’Hara and Rhett Butler in your own version of gone with
the Wind.
Whatever theme you decide to
go with you can be assured that an activity outdoor wedding theme will
be talked about for many years to come. And, as you celebrate your future
anniversaries, the past will be as vivid as it was on the day you decided
to say I DO.
