Strawberry and Cream Summer Wedding

The date is set and your looking for an unusual theme, well your dad always said your skin was like strawberries and cream so why not build your summer wedding on that theme. It is different from most summer wedding themes and you like things a little different. First you have to arrange the church. You can already picture how you want it in your mind; the pew ends dripping in ivory and strawberry ribbons. Ivory and strawberry flowers fill the church the perfume making sure you know it is summer.

The flower girls can drop the strawberry and cream petals and be dressed in strawberry dresses with cream belts trailing down behind them, as can your main bridesmaids but they can carry cream bouquets with red ribbons trailing down. Their headdresses can be perhaps white flowers with small red berries that would look like strawberries. Or perhaps red and white crystals, in a tiara that would also carry the theme through. 

The most important part now is deciding your wedding dress, simple yet elegant but still carrying the theme, you decide on perhaps a cream dress but the hemline has hundreds of red crystal flowers on it which is carried through on your simple train. To bring the summer with you and as the sun catches it they will glint like a meadow full of gleaming tiny flowers. 

Your hair could be scattered with tiny crystal flowers, Mmm that sounds great. All that’s left is to convince your man to carry the theme through, well a nice white suite with a red waistcoat, and tie ok that’s the main wedding party sorted now you can tell all the guests that you would like them to continue the theme if at all possible, the buttonholes you could spay with a vanilla essence that would gently keep the idea of strawberries and crème in mind.

The car you arrive in could carry the same theme red and white flowers and bows, and ask the driver to wear a red shirt as well. 

For your invitations how about red cards and white writing with maybe a flower in the corner, or even a small bowl of strawberries and cream for something totally different. In these days of a lot of people making their own cards etc, you can put whatever you want on them. They can be personalised to go with all themes but a summer wedding theme can lend itself to so many things, a sleepy church surrounded by summer flowers, a loving couple sat by a river eating strawberries and cream, the list is endless and if you did not want to make them yourself you should be able to find someone close by that makes handmade cards a lot of shops are now carrying a range of this type of card ask if you could have a contact telephone no or email or address and ask if they could do it for you.

For wedding favours, how about small parcels of strawberry shortcake, or strawberry liqueurs. Or even little strawberry corsages for the women and cream for the men in silk as keepsakes of your special day. Or Turkish delight with its pretty pink and white look that would make a really special surprise. Or if finances allow red stud earrings for the women, and perhaps cream silk hankies for the men. Even red and cream candles made to smell of strawberries and cream, which would bring your special day into the very homes of your guests. 

The wedding reception could be held in a gazebo in the gardens of your chosen venue with red and cream flowers hanging down, and the table clothes alternating from red and cream. The bridal table could be either cream with a red swag or vice versa red with cream swag. Huge bowls of strawberries and cream adorning the tables, lots of summer salads, bowls of fruit, strawberry jellies for the children perhaps a few summer fruit gateaux and for the non drinkers a summer fruits punch. The cake of course could be themed in so many different ways, both red and cream flowers cascading down it, or an archway on top with flowers adorning it and the bride and groom themed to your clothes. Or birds of paradise suspended from the archway the beautiful colours setting off the cream of the cake. 

Or how about a crystal cascade of red and clear crystals, which would catch the glint of summer sun. You will have the summer wedding of your dreams that will not be repeated and every time you see or smell strawberries and cream it will evoke memories anew of your very special summer wedding. Not only for you and your groom but also even for your guests and this will linger for many years to come.
