Wedding reception
themes
Well
the wedding is set and now you are on to planning the reception you want,
and you have to decide on a theme. There are various themes you could choose
from or you could simply make your own. This could be as simple as a colour
theme where everything is in matching colours like lavender and silver.
The flowers could be in multi shades of lavender and purple. Table clothes
can be dark purple with a lighter lilac colour on top. The wedding invitations
should continue the theme by using lilac card with silver writing, flowers
can follow through and the cake could have silver decorations whilst the
cake topper can be a vase of cascading lilac, mauve and purple broken with
white flowers cascading down the cake.
Another good choice is using
the bond theme for your wedding reception theme. You could decorate the
hall in a casino style using the colours red, black and white (this is
the poker chip colours as well). The tables could have a sprinkling of
poker chips, the wedding cake could be designed to resemble a roulette
wheel, the guest’s place cards could have their name followed by number
like 007 on it. Music should include bond themes. For your favours, you
could give the men tuxedo boxes with chocolates in and the women could
have bikini boxes. The head table could have a golden gun centrepiece or
an ice sculpture of an Austin Martin DB5. The drinks offered to welcome
guests could be martini and ice.
You love Egypt so why not have
an Egyptian wedding reception theme? This could be lots of fun, with plenty
of coloured ribbons, in gold and silver to represent the pharaoh’s wealth.
Gold and silver dragees scattered on the tables. The cake you could have
made as a pyramid with gold trims and a sphinx guarding each corner. Place
cards could be decorated with Egyptian symbols, as could the wedding invitations.
The tables could have rich blue covers resembling lapis lazuli, which is
the most treasured gem of ancient Egypt.
If your wedding is on Halloween
then this could be a real great party, with pumpkin heads on each table,
and skeleton sweets dotted around, and of course cobwebs hanging from the
ceiling. All guests could be asked to dress accordingly, make the venue
as much like a haunted house as you can. Flowers should be red, as should
table cloths be the same. The groom could be Dracula and his bride one
of the undead.
Every girl dreams of a Cinderella
wedding. You could make you wedding reception theme a fairy tale ball.
Sprinkle tables with glitter, as this represents fairy dust. You could
get phone holder slippers as table decoration and they would also act as
the favours in multi colours representing the glass slipper. The wedding
cake could be a fairytale castle, with a horse and carriage waiting outside
to take the bride and groom off to their fairytale life. For the music,
you should rather use a real band instead of a DJ. As the guests arrive
offer a fairytale punch.
Or why not have a medieval banquet
with bunting decorating the hall. You could look to see if the bride and
groom’s family names have a coat of arms and use it on invitations, place
cards etc, but if not you could design your own to give some authenticity.
You could have a hog roast and the court jester there to greet guests as
they arrive. Music could be a quartet playing appropriate music. Have jugs
of wine on tables. Then watch the jousting or take on the black knight
to win the fair ladies pleasure.
If on the other hand your budget
is tight you could have a room in the local pub, decorated with helium
balloons, the table covers could be themed to match the bride and bridesmaids,
you could make small silk posies for the tables and you could also make
your own invitations, and place cards in your chosen theme.
If you want something a little
different and your passion is sci-fi why not have a star wars theme, the
men could dress as Jedi knights and the women as princess Leah. Have Yoder
greet your arriving guests. The tables could be split in to two halves
the rebels on one side and on the other the galactic empire the groom could
be Darth Vader, and the bride Padermai. The colour scheme would also match
if you chose to make it red and blue to match the light sabres.
You may like one of these ideas
but if not you can always come up with a theme that suites the mood you
want to set on the day and it is not too difficult to work out the matching
effect that you need to put your dreams into reality. After all it is your
day. |
