The Wild West Wedding Theme

This is a real great theme to use, it is fun, unusual and really brings the black hills to life with an assortment of fine food and real country music you will be swinging and dancing around for a ye ahh good time. There are a number of things you can do for this theme. The theme of the old west, it is a good idea to see if you can get an old barn to use as you would have a great focal point for the ceremony and give the feel of the old west. You have a number of styles to choose from you can have a hillbilly wedding, country &Western, cowboy and Indians the choice is endless 

The wedding dress for a western theme wedding is nice and simple, you could try to find a old country Western dress, or you could even use a long flowing skirt with tassels with a white blouse that has a brooch. This is your more traditional look and it is a comfortable one. Or there is the denim look that is more popular with the young as well as with the old, for the men’s attire a cowboys tuxedos would fit the bill nicely. If that is not possible then a denim shirt with tassels and blue jeans would be the next best thing.

The flower preparation for the theme is any thing like large daisies with wild weeds or sunflowers and some hay tied up with soft rope for an outstanding look.

The décor for the barn is a fun thing to do, you can have some bundles of hay stacked up and have hanging lanterns and bunting in the good old country style. Your guests could get dummy guns or toy ones and you could have a table to hand in your guns. You could use the bride’s father as the sheriff and he could carry a prop shot gun to really spice things up. The table décor could have checked tablecloth with old boots or buckets with weed flowers inside it as centrepiece and there should be extra bundles of hay for seating throw in some spades and rakes along with old tin cans and you have the old west ready to party.

The transport for the bride and groom should be good old horseback or stagecoach to and from the ceremony also the bride should ride sidesaddle to give the authentic look.

Food preparation or as it was called back then the chow is the next best thing about having a Wild West wedding theme. You can hold a BBQ all cowboys and cowgirls love a good Barbie with T bone’s and BBQ beans and sausages have a big soup pot outside over a open fire to set that Weston look also if you can arrange it have a open spit with roasted hog roast. Every one should eat and drink out of a tin dish and mug just to finish the look off. The wedding cake could be shaped like some bales of hay with crossing shotguns on the top. 

The music is a real joy to get down too, if you get a band in make sure they can do at least one square dance number to put the guests in the mood, something in the lines off 5,6,7,8, from steps or Hill Billy Rock if this is not possible then take along an portable CD player with a BBQ music disk or some good old country songs.

The wedding favours are a nice and easy thing to get you can have boot shaped bottle openers, sheriff badges, cowboy hats and bandanas, gun key rings, for your special gifts to close people you can have bootlace ties, and Weston boot confetti, little silver horse shoes is a nice little gift to bring good luck for years to come.
